Hall of Fame Class Announced

Eight Member Class Includes Seven Student-Athletes and One Coach

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Tuesday its 2022 Hall of Fame Class.
 
This eight-member class, consisting of seven former student-athletes and one coach, is scheduled for induction on Saturday, Apr. 9, 2022.

Walter Barr - Head Football Coach
  • Conducted feasibility study that led to Board of Trustees decision to start intercollegiate football program
  • First football coach in four-year intercollegiate program history
  • Led team to nine wins in two seasons (4-6 in 2000, 5-5 in 2001)
  • Players he recruited became the base of the USA South Championship teams in 2003 and 2004
Jennifer (Johnson) Boyer - Women's Soccer
  • Class of 1995
  • Forward
  • Years Played 1991-92, 1994
Accomplishments
  • Part of the first women's soccer teams at SU
  • Graduated as the all-time leading scorer in program history
  • Still No. 3 all-time on the scoring list
  • No. 2 all-time points per game and goals scored
    • Her goals scored record stood for 22 years
  • Still has the top two scoring seasons in program history
Ashley Cross - Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey
  • Class of 2014
  • Forward in Field hockey/goalkeeper in lax
  • From Agawam, Massachuetts

  • Goals total is still No. 4 all-time 
  • His 1987 season points total is still tied for fifth in program history
  • 1985 and 1987 seasons of 14 goals each are tied for third best in program history
  • Led team to 36 wins in the first four years of the program, including back-to-back 11-win seasons.

  • 2008 USA South Player of the Year
  • 2008 NABC All-America
  • School Record holder for Career Rebounds with 1008
  • 14th player to reach 1000 points
  • 1st 1000 points/1000 rebounds at SU
  • 2006 and 2007 leading the team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, minutes played (2006)
  • 2007 MVP of the Hampden-Sydney Tournament 
  • Joined BG Leitershofen/Stadtbergen, German Regional league following graduation
