VaSID Releases 2025-26 All-State Teams; Hornets Earn Three Major Awards

Earlier this month, the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) released its 2025-26 All-State teams for 22 different sports. Shenandoah University was represented in 11 different sports, with 20 student-athletes earning awards for the Hornets.

The Hornets were highlighted in three separate major awards. Field hockey's Reagan Flory, women's lacrosse's Natalie Opatovsky, and women's outdoor track and field's Molly Donaldson each earned Rookie of the Year for their respective sports.

Overall, SU had nine first-team student-athletes and 11 on the second team, as baseball, football, field hockey, men's outdoor track and field, men's tennis, softball, women's basketball, women's indoor track and field, women's lacrosse, women's outdoor track and field, and women's soccer all had athletes on the list.

MAJOR AWARD WINNERS

Reagan Flory - Field Hockey - Rookie of the Year
Flory played in 18 games and made 17 starts in her rookie season, compiling 37 points. Throughout those 18 games, the forward had 16 goals and five assists, with 59 shots. She scored in 10 different games and had two separate hat tricks. Flory's biggest goal of the year came in the ODAC Semifinals, as she scored the overtime game-winner in a 4-3 win against Washington and Lee University, sending the Hornets to the ODAC Championship for the third straight year. The first-year was awarded ODAC Rookie of the Year, All-ODAC First Team, and NFHCA All-Region First Team honors this season.

Natalie Opatovsky - Women's Lacrosse - Rookie of the Year
Opatovsky had a stellar first season as a Hornet, recording 59 points in 20 games on her way to ODAC Rookie of the Year and All-ODAC Second Team nods. The attacker tied for second on the team in points and led the Hornets with 29 assists, while starting in every game. Opatovsky had a point in 19 of the team's 20 games and ended her rookie campaign on a 14-game point streak.

Molly Donaldson - Women's Outdoor Track and Field - Field Rookie of the Year
For the outdoor track and field season, Donaldson competed in shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin throughout the season. The thrower holds the Hornets' record for outdoor shot put at 12.79m, which was set at the ODAC Championships at Eastern Mennonite University. At the conference championship, Donaldson earned second-team honors with her performance in the shot put. The first-year also added USTFCCA All-Region for the outdoor season to her list of accolades this year, which includes multiple awards for the indoor season as well.
