Women's Soccer Defeats Hood

Hornets Score Five First Half Goals

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's soccer team defeated Hood College 5-2 in non-conference home action Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets (4-0-2) rattled off five first-half goals, including two from Elizabeth McGee, in their victory over the Blazers (0-2-2).

IN BRIEF

Chandler Gallant buried a goal to the bottom right side to deliver the opening goal just over 11 minutes in.

After getting tripped and forcing a penalty kick, McGee scored her first of two goals to push the lead to 2-0.

After the Blazers made it 2-1, McGee curved a ball to the top left corner from near the right post. Valeria Pomales helped give the Hornets the 4-1 advantage after feeding a pass to Madison Hieber for the tally.

With two minutes to play in the first half, Jordan Haack rocketed a ball from nearly 25 yards out for the four-goal lead at the half.

Despite Hood scoring one more time in the second half, the Hornets only needed the first half scoring output for their victory.

The Hornets outshot the Blazers 15-4 with a 10-3 shot on goal advantage.
