BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Shenandoah University split its two non-league volleyball matches Saturday at the Bridgewater Tri-Match.
Shenandoah (3-5) swept Greensboro, 3-0, in its second match of the day after dropping a 3-1 decision to Southern Virginia in its morning contest.
SOUTHERN VIRGINIA RECAP
Southern Virginia (4-5) took the opening match of the day with a 25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15 victory over the Hornets.
SU hit a match-best .267 in the third set with 12 kills against four errors in 30 attempts and was .100 overall (33-22-110) for the match.
Jillian Warter had 11 of the squad's 33 kills with
Brooke Gast adding nine and
Kate Poppo six.
Defensively, Warter had 14 digs and
Natalie Reader 11.
Brooke Wagner, in her second straight game as setter, had 23 assists.
GREENSBORO RECAP
The Hornets won at 18, 18, and 21 over the Pride (5-6) to salvage a split of the day's matches. The meeting between the two programs was the first since SU swept GC on Sept. 5, 2015. That win snapped a 19-match losing streak to Greensboro.
Warter again led Shenandoah offensively with 14 kills with Poppo adding 10. Both women had double-doubles by registering 14 and 16 digs, respectively.
Emma Thompson backed them up defensively with 13 digs.
Wagner had 17 of the squad's 36 assists.
SU hit .243 (39-12—111) for the match.
