HARRISONBURG – Shenandoah University opened up its 2022 ODAC men's soccer slate Wednesday afternoon with a 1-1 tie at Eastern Mennonite.
 
Shenandoah (2-1-3, 0-0-1 ODAC) answered an EMU (1-4-2, 0-0-1) goal in the 17^th minute with one of its own in the 33^rd.
 
IN BRIEF
Brenden Zabava, off of a Nicholas Mounkhaty assist, knotted the contest with his goal at 32:40.
 
The Royals had struck first on an Ethan McGee to Ford DeVault goal at 16:40.
 
Following Zabava's goal, the two teams went the next 18 minutes before putting another shot on goal. Shenandoah, which outshot EMU 17-6 for the game, had that opportunity.
 
The Hornets only allowed one Eastern Mennonite shot on goal after the Royals tally in the 17^th minute. Travis Jett had two saves in the effort.
 
SU also had a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks.
 
The contest was a physical one with eight yellow cards issued.

Shenandoah hosts nationally ranked Washington & Lee Saturday in a 4:30 ODAC matchup. This is also the back end of a doubleheader with the SU women. The women host W&L at 2.
