SALEM, Va. – Host Roanoke College earned its second ODAC volleyball victory of the season Friday night with a 3-1 win over Shenandoah.
Shenandoah (4-6, 1-1 ODAC) battled back after dropping the initial two sets, 25-16 and 25-18, to down the Maroons, 25-20, in the third. Roanoke then clinched the victory with a 25-17 triumph in the fourth.

The opening set was a back-and-forth affair with SU and Roanoke trading the lead four times and being tied on five others. The Maroons took the lead for good with a 7-1 run that turned a 10-10 match into a 17-11 advantage for the hosts.
Roanoke clinched the opening set on a kill.
The Maroons (7-5, 2-2) led virtually wire-to-wire in the second, taking its original lead at 2-1 and eventually leading by 11 points before taking the 25-18 victory.
Shenandoah cut its deficit in half by leading throughout the third while Roanoke clinched by doing the same in the fourth.
Jillian Warter had a team-high 11 kills for the Hornets with
Cheyenne Price adding seven and
Kate Poppo six.
Warter, with 13 digs, had a double-double.
Natalie Reader led in this category with 16 and Poppo matched Warter's output with 13.
Brooke Wagner had 19 assists and Becka Nguyen 13.
SU hit a match-best .310 in the third with 16 kills against three errors in 42 attempts.

Shenandoah continues this weekend road trip with a tri-match at Ferrum Saturday. The Hornets take on the Panthers at 1 and Johnson (Tenn.) at 3.
