HOW IT HAPPENED

Using a kill from Regan Minney and a service ace from Kylie Danella, the Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 lead.  Quickly the Royals would tie the game at 4 as both squads would trade points back and forth until Shenandoah would go on a four-point run after an ace from Reader.  With the Hornets up 21-17, the Hornets would close out the final four points to take the first set highlighted by a Cheyenne Price kill.

The Hornets would drop the second and third sets by a score of 23-25 but would go on to win the crucial fourth set 25-17.  The Hornets found themselves down quickly 6-1 in the fourth but fought back after kills from Jillian Warter and Ashlyn Wade with an ace mixed in from Aaliyah Chunn.  The Hornets would take advantage of some Royal attack errors to regain the lead in the set.  Shenandoah would hold off the Royals comeback with kills from Jillian Warter and Regan Minney before Minney would get the final three kills in the set.

In the fifth, Shenandoah would put up a valiant effort, but the Royal attack was too strong and ultimately the Hornets would fall in the fifth 15-7.

UP NEXT

The Hornets will return home Friday evening for a conference matchup with Randolph-Macon.  That game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
