Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Shenandoah men's tennis was back in action over the weekend at the ITA Division III Men's Southeast Regional Championships hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
SINGLES COMPETITION
In the B2 flight,
Keith Orr took an opening-round win over Salisbury's Chris Catan by a score of 8-6 Friday afternoon. Orr would go on to drop his afternoon second-round match against the University of Mary Washington's Andrew Cooper 8-7 (7-5 tie-breaker.)
In the Championship Singles East Draw
Jovan Cirkovic would beat Caleb Brightman of Salisbury dropping the first set 7-5 and then coming back to win the second set 5-7 and then (4-10 in a tiebreaker.). Cirkovic would drop his next-round matchup with Joshua Kim of Johns Hopkins (6-4, 6-4.)
Dominick Suwak dropped his opening-round matchup on Friday morning to Swarthmore's LalithAditya Suresh, 6-3,6-2. In the consolation round, Suwak would go on to win his round of 32 match-up against Ryan Monroe of Christopher Newport in straight sets, 0-6, 3-6. Suwak would follow that win up with a round-of-16 win over Aaradith Ravichandran 6-3, 6-3.
Artem Babaiev would fall to Mary Washington's Artis Hart 5-7, 2-6 Friday morning in opening-round play.
DOUBLES COMPETITION
In the Championship Doubles flight Babaiev and Cirkovic would fall in their opening-round match with Johns Hopkins 8-7 and then 7-3 in the tie-breaking set. In the consolation bracket, the duo would beat the team from Christopher Newport 8-6, unfortunately, the pair would drop the quarterfinal match to Mary Washington 8-5.
Keith Orr and
Dominick Suwak won their round of 64 matchups over Stevens Institute 8-6, and also won the round of 32 matchup over Gettysburg 8-5, before falling in the round of 16 to Christopher Newport 7-8 and 0-7 in the tie-breaker.
UP NEXT
The men will make their home debut next week with Southern Virginia on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
