Men's Basketball Sinks Shoremen in Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Shenandoah University men's basketball team start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2013 with its 68-49 win at Washington College (Md.) on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Hornets (3-0) shot over 50% in the second half and had 10 different players with points throughout the game in the win over the Shoremen (2-2).

RECAP

Each team held the lead three times in the first half of the contest with Shenandoah gaining the lead for the final time with a made three-pointer by Davion Roberts, going up 12-10. After the made basket, SU outscored the home team 18-8 across the final 13:50 of the first.

In the last quarter of the first Washington College (Md.) only scored four points. The Hornets' defense played a clean half, only sending the opponent to the line once.

Nic Pullum and Gavin Bizyak picked up points in the paint to start the second half as Shenandoah went up by 16 points. The Hornets stayed in the paint and helped Jaylen Williams get a pair of buckets near the basket.

Williams added a three-pointer and a tip-in layup to give him nine points in a three-minute span. 

Baskets from Joseph Baldwin and Richard Rogers were part of a SU 11-0 run during the middle half of the second, giving them a 28-point lead. Landon Russ picked up the final points of the day for SU.

Roberts (14) and Williams (13) led Shenandoah in scoring while Pullum led the way on the boards with six rebounds. Roberts shot a perfect 5-5 in the game.

Shenandoah has defeated all three of its opponents this season by 19 or more and is third in the ODAC for points allowed.

Shenandoah heads to Lancaster Bible College on Tuesday night for a 6 p.m. game before the Thanksgiving break.
