LEXINGTON, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team completed its regular season Saturday afternoon with a 71-48 loss at regular season champion Washington & Lee.

The Generals (19-6, 16-2 ODAC) clinched the No. 1 seed, and salvaged a split of the season series with Shenandoah (16-9, 11-7) by pulling away in the second and third quarters.

With the Hornets leading, 13-12, after one thanks to a
Madisen Kimble 3-pointer four seconds before the horn, W&L scored the first four points of the second to take a lead it would not relinquish.

SU stayed within one possession of the Generals for the next three minutes, cutting it to one point on four different occasions, but could not bring the contest back to level.

Trailing by one, 20-19, following a Kimble jumper at 6:40, Shenandoah was held scoreless for the remainder of the period as the Generals opened up an 11-point advantage thanks to a 10-0 half-closing run.

Kimble ended the scoreless draught by canning a pair from the line at 9:22 of the third, but the damage was done.

Washington & Lee outscored SU, 28-13, in the third and held a 26-point advantage to start the final stanza.

Shenandoah outscored its hosts, 16-13, in the fourth as the margin remained above 20 points over the final 10 minutes.

Kimble led SU with 12 points with
Jessica Littlejohn adding nine and
Terese Greene eight.

Shawnise Campbell had a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Hornets shot 30 percent (20 of 66) to 39 percent (27 of 70) for W&L.

Shenandoah hosts No. 10 Eastern Mennonite Monday night at 7 p.m. in an ODAC Tournament opening round contest. The winner of that game faces second-seeded Randolph-Macon on Thursday at 6 p.m. on the Salem Civic Center court.
