VIRGINIA BEACH – Seventh-seeded Virginia Wesleyan ended Shenandoah University's men's basketball season with an 80-52 victory Tuesday evening in an ODAC Tournament first round contest.

The Marlins (17-8) took control of the contest with a 15-2 run from the 14:35 to 10:16 marks of the first.

Trailing by just one, 8-7, following a
Malik Jordan layup at 15:17, Shenandoah (7-19) saw VWU start its run with an Omari Deveaux 3-pointer at 14:21. Deveaux capped the run with another '3' with 10:16 to play.

Joshua Stephen snapped the string with a layup at 9:23, but the Marlins weren't finished. Virginia Wesleyan scored 12 of the game's next 18 points over a span of 3:52 to expand its lead out to 18 points, 35-17.

The Marlins made six of their seven attempts from the field during this latter run and took a 43-29 lead into the break.

The Hornets matched their hosts to start the second, splitting 38 points over the initial 11:56 of the half, but could get no closer.

Virginia Wesleyan closed out the game by scoring 18 of the final 22 points of the contest.

Shenandoah shot 34 percent (20 of 59) for the contest to 48 percent (30 of 62) for the Marlins and saw VWU grab 42 of the game's 71 rebounds.

Stephen led the visitors with 17 points with Jordan and
Davion Roberts adding 10 each. Roberts and Jordan had seven rebounds apiece.
