Women's Soccer Pick Up Road Win

Hornets Win, 2-1

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team defeated Penn State-Harrisburg, 2-1, on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (4-1-1) trailed early against the Lions (2-4-1) but scored once in each half to help give them the road win.

IN BRIEF
Shenandoah allowed a goal at the 6:27 mark of the first half and had an early deficit to recover from. It took just nine minutes for SU to tie things up, as Emily Dendis scored her first goal of the season in the 16th minute on a penalty kick.

Dendis becomes the fifth first-year to score for Shenandoah this season.

For the remainder of the first half, Shenandoah and Penn State-Harrisburg combined for just two shots, as offense was hard to come by.

Offense wasn't hard to find at the start of the second half, as Chandler Gallant found the back of the net 45 seconds into the half, giving SU the 2-1 lead.

A save by Karissa Dominick in the 62nd minute helped maintain the lead for the Hornets. Their defense stopped the Lions from attacking for the remainder of the contest.

Shenandoah had the advantage in shots and corner kicks throughout the game.

Dendis and Gallant become the eighth and ninth goal scorers on the season for Shenandoah.

UP NEXT
Shenandoah returns home this Wednesday for a non-conference match at 7 p.m. versus Stevenson.
