Women's Basketball Extends Winning Streak to Seven Games

SALISBURY, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to seven games with its 67-41 win at Salisbury University in a non-conference game on Wednesday night.

In the battle of the SUs, Terese Greene (24) and Maddie Kimble (20) secured the victory for the Hornets (10-2) by combing for 44 points while single-handly outscoring the Sea Gulls (6-10) in the victory.

RECAP
Salisbury contested the Hornets closely for the first three minutes of the game before Shenandoah converted a 6-5 lead into a 24-7 advantage over the last seven minutes of the first. The run was started by a Kimble three and ended with the Hornets scoring three consecutive times from behind the arc. Greene, Gabby Krystofiak, and Kayla Maxson nailed the final three long balls.

The Shenandoah defense held Salisbury to just two made shots in the first.

The Sea Gulls kept the Hornets scoreless for the first handful of the minutes to begin the second frame but Kimble snapped that pattern with a made jumper to give Shenandoah a 26-13 lead. Towards the end of the half, Sydney Shepos hit a jumper to put the Hornets up 17 as Greene then hit a buzzer-beater three to end the second, putting her team up 18.

Greene finished the half with 19 points and scored 24 points overall in just 23 minutes of work.

In the third, the Hornets played a good team game as they had an assist on every basket they scored in the quarter. During the same stretch, they committed six fewer fouls than the opposition. The fourth quarter was a defensive battle as each team was held to its lowest scoring marks of the contest.

Emily Williams and Shawnise Campbell shared a team-high in rebounds with seven. Greene, Kimble, and Maxson all had multiple steals while Kimble led the Hornets in assists.

This is the seventh win this season by 20 or more points for Melissa Smeltzer-Kraft's team and the sixth consecutive full season that they've hit the 10 win mark.
