Women's Soccer Held Scoreless at Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. - A goal in the 58th minute put the Shenandoah University women's soccer team behind in a 1-0 loss at Guilford College on Sunday in an ODAC match.

The Hornets (7-7-2, 2-3-1 ODAC) were shutout despite getting 10 shots on goal throughout the game while holding the Quakers (10-2-2, 4-1-1) to four shots on target.

RECAP

Within the first minute of the game, Kirklyn Wilson rattled of the first shot of the game which was stopped in the bottom portion of the cage. A corner for the Hornets led to a shot missed high by Kayla Jenkins as the Hornets continued to apply pressure on the Quakers.

In the 34th minute, seconds after being subbed onto the pitch, Kamyrnn Mays went right towards the net and got a shot off, which was saved. Alexis Andrews had the final shot of the first half for SU.

Kasie Kilmer assisted in keeping the game scoreless as the keeper made two saves, both coming in the 32nd minute.

Guilford finally broke the tie as a deflection off a Hornet led to a chance from just inside the box for GC, as they were able to get the ball into the upper portion of the goal. Guilford fended off Shenandoah for the final 30 minutes of the game as the home team made three more saves.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah looks to get back in the win column as they head to Hollins on Wednesday afternoon.
