Women's Soccer Defeated on Homecoming

WINCHESTER, Va. - In the second of three games on Glo Fiber Field at Shentel Stadium on homecoming, the Shenandoah University women's soccer team fell 1-0 against the University of Lynchburg in ODAC play on Saturday afternoon.

LYN (9-4-3, 6-1-2 ODAC) scored the game's only goal in the 24th minute as SU (8-8-2, 3-4-1) was held to just two shots on goal throughout the 90 minutes.

RECAP

In the sixth minute McKenna Newcome fired the first shot of the afternoon, which was saved by Lynchburg. Nine minutes later off a corner kick, Kayla Jenkins deflected a pass to her that just went over the crossbar, keeping the game scoreless.

Lynchburg picked up a deflection of their own, except this one went under the crossbar and into the back of net for the lone goal.

The crossbar came into play again in the 34th minute as Kaitlyn Wahl got a shot off from the right side of the box that clanked off the bar and out of the net. Wahl would hit the crossbar again later in the contest.

In the early going of the second, SU picked up three consecutive corners but were kept without any chances on the corners thanks to the LYN defense.

Shenandoah's last chance to tie the game came as Wahl once again got a shot off near the net but this one was smothered by LYN's goalie.
