Hornets Sting Early in 3-0 Win at EMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. - After a five-game home stand, the Shenandoah University women's soccer team went back on the road on Tuesday night and defeated Eastern Mennonite University, 3-0, in ODAC play.

The Hornets (7-5-1, 2-1-0 ODAC) benefited from an early Royals (2-9-1, 0-3-0) mistake while also creating chances of their own in the dominating conference win.

RECAP
Just one minute into the game, a crossed pass by the Hornets ricocheted off an EMU defender and into the net for an own goal which put SU up 1-0.

In the 15th minute, the Hornets received a corner kick. Off the corner, Chandler Gallant played give-and-go with Lauren Duffy before crossing it into the box to McKenna Newcome who fired a shot right at the hands of the EMU goalie. Luckily for SU, the save was not fully controlled, and in came Audrey Atwell to clean up the loose ball for the rebound goal. Shenandoah took the 2-0 lead into the break.

The second half saw SU get five shots on goal that were all stopped before they were finally able to break into their lead again. Lexi DiSora carried the ball at midfield in the 66th minute before giving it off to Kaitlyn Wahl. Wahl dribbled up the field closer to the box and connected on a crosser with Emily Soos. Soos timed the pass perfectly and headed it to the bottom right corner of the net for the game's final goal.

SU outshot EMU 45-0 and held a 13-0 advantage in corners.
