Wrestling Places Eight Hornets on Podium at Shenandoah Invitational

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University wrestling team was back on the mat as they hosted their home invitational on Saturday.  The Hornets finished in 5th place overall with 104 points while placing eight Hornets on the podium.  Leading the way for the Hornet was Anakin Burks who took first in the 125-pound weight class.  Burks won his first match by fall before Cadden Kucek from Wilkes by major decision (13-2) to secure first place in the tournament.  Dylan Weaver (174 pounds) also had an impressive day, taking home a second-place finish.  Weaver picked up three major decision wins before falling to Austin Brass from Messiah in the first-place match by a 9-3 decision.  Hunter Ballantine won third place at 149 pounds after falling in the semifinals to Dalton Monger from Messiah, Ballantine came back to win the third-place match by decision, 7-4 over Colton Thorpe from Wilkes.  Sean Rinebolt (141) placed 4th, Rives Hargis (285) placed 6th, Cannon Long (157) placed 7th, Gordon Watson (149) placed 8th, and Tyler Tarallo (165) placed 8th to round out the podium finishes for the Hornets.
