Women's Basketball Splits Season Series With Roanoke

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team dropped an ODAC home contest, 70-59, against Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets (18-5, 13-3 ODAC) led by one entering the fourth but the Maroons (15-8, 10-6) entered the quarter on a 7-2 run and held SU to only 13 points in that frame to take the win.

RECAP

Six points from Terese Greene and a three from Maddie Kimble help SU take a five-point advantage three minutes into the game. Roanoke held Shenandoah scoreless for nearly five minutes as they pulled within one, but Greene ended the drought with another basket.

With 11 seconds left in the opening quarter, Kimble assisted a Shawnise Campbell jumper, putting SU up by three. RC raced down the court and hit a corner three at the buzzer to head into the second tied, 17-17.

Roanoke eventually took a five-point lead into the half, holding Shenandoah to only three baskets and zero threes in the second.

Shenandoah opened the third quarter on a 9-0 run as Emily Williams scored four points and Cambell and Kimble added baskets of their own. The two ODAC teams traded leads for the rest of the quarter but it'd be SU on top at the end of three thanks to a Campbell layup with under a minute left.

An early Sydney Shepos free throw put SU up by two in the fourth but the Maroons hit 66% of their shots in the quarter and made a handful of threes to regain the lead and hold it for the rest of the game, taking the win.

Greene had a game-high 23 points with Campbell also hitting double-digits with 10 points. Campbell led the team in boards with eight, while Kimble had the most assists with four.
