SALEM, Va. – The Shenandoah University women's basketball team will be moving on to the semifinals after taking care of the Hornets from the University of Lynchburg by a score of 55-42, and will now await the winner of the 3/6 matchup between Randolph-Macon and Roanoke.
Terese Greene led all scorers with 21 points on 8-21 shooting from the floor, 5-6 from the free throw line, eight rebounds, four steals, and an assist. With her final basket in the fourth quarter, Greene now surpasses the 1,000-point mark in her career.
Shawnise Campbell had six points but pulled down 14 rebounds and had four blocks in the contest.
Emily Williams also had six points and four rebounds to help the Hornets take care of the other Hornets.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Gabby Krystofiak got the scoring going early for Shenandoah by nailing a three giving SU the early 3-0 lead a minute into the game. Lynchburg was able to hit a three of their own, and we were all tied at 3 with seven minutes to go in the first. Lynchburg grabbed their first lead of the game by splitting a pair of free throws.
Emily Williams' made layup gave the Hornets back the lead, and we were on pace for a close one in Salem.

Terese Greene went on a 4-0 run as the first quarter started to wind down.
Kayla Maxson's jumper with 1:17 on the clock gave SU an 11-8 lead, but Lynchburg did get the final basket of the quarter, which was a three to tie the game at 11 heading to the second.
It was all Hornets in the second, that is the home Hornets. Shenandoah outscored Lynchburg 14-4 to take a 25-15 lead into the break.
Terese Greene cashed in on her first shot of the quarter followed by a jumper from
Sydney Shepos as the lead was starting to grow.
Zoe Star got in the scoring action pushing the lead to six at 17-11 with just over six minutes to play in the half. Lynchburg finally scored their first basket of the quarter over five minutes into the frame. Greene quickly responded with another layup, followed by
Maggie Rooklin's first jumper. Greene followed that up with another layup inside the paint to give Shenandoah the first double-digit lead of the game at 10. Greene cashed in on two free throws before Lynchburg hit their second field goal of the of quarter. Shenandoah took that 10-point, 25-15 lead heading into the break.
After the break, both teams failed to capitalize on the first possession with Shenandoah turning the ball over, and Lynchburg missing their first shot of the half.
Terese Greene, as she did for most of the game, ended the scoring drought for the Hornets scoring another layup.
Gabby Krystofiak's layup, pushed the lead to 14, but Lynchburg responded with a timely three to cut the lead back to 11.
Maddie Kimble converted her and one attempt before
Emily Williams' jumper gave Shenandoah the biggest lead of the game at 15. Lynchburg started to gain momentum, as the Hornets went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead back to eight at 34-26 with 4:36 left in the quarter. Kimble pushed the lead back to 10 with her made jumper, but Lynchburg outscored Shenandoah 17-14 in the third to cut the lead to single digits going to the fourth.
Lynchburg made the game exciting early in the fourth, cutting the lead SU lead to five at 41-36 with just over seven minutes to play. That did not phase Shenandoah, as the Hornets proceeded to go on an 8-0 run of their own pushing the lead back to 13.
Shawnise Campbell took advantage of the Lynchburg big fouling out of the game, and Lynchburg did not have an answer for Campbell down low.

Emily Williams zipped a pass past all of Lynchburg, and Krystofiak converted the layup. With 1:07 left in the fourth,
Terese Greene hit a baseline jumper for her 1,001
st point of her career. That would be the final basket for the Hornets, as Shenandoah just dribbled the ball out and secured the 55-42 win to advance to the semifinals.

Shenandoah now awaits the winner of the Randolph-Macon and Roanoke in the final quarterfinal game in Salem. That game will take place on Saturday at 8 pm inside the Salem Civic Center.
