WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University wrestling team wrapped up their regular season slate with a 46-10 win over Greensboro Saturday night in Winchester.  Before the match, the Hornets celebrated the seniors: Jalen Cornelius, Xavier Locke, Hunter Thompson, George Vrachnos, and manager Natalie Reader.

It was a great showing for the Hornets as Shenandoah dominated from the jump.  Anakin Burks got the party started for the Hornets, picking up a first-round victory via fall in the 125-pound bout.  Sean Rinebolt in the 133-pound bout, also picked up a first-round victory via fall to put the Hornets up 12-0 through two matches.

Greensboro picked up a tech fall victory over Hunter Ballantine at 141 pounds to get their first match of the dual.

Manny Lucas won by forfeit in the 149-pound bout and the Hornets increased their lead 18-5.

Cannon Long at 157 pounds, also picked up a first-round victory via fall.  Jalen Cornelius in the 164-pound weight class, was the first match to make it to the second round, but like his teammates before, he also picked up the victory via fall.  Dylan Weaver at 174 pounds, unfortunately, did not win by fall but still won handily over his opponent to pick up the major decision victory 14-6.  Hunter Thompson, at 184, got taken down, rolled his opponent over to get the reversal, and then secured the victory by fall.

George Vrachnos, at 197, suffered a tech fall loss for Greensboro to pick up their second win of the dual.  Then in the final match, Daniel Basil-Barker, after dislocating his finger, still managed to pick up the win via fall in the third round and the Hornets took the match 46-10.
