Men's Tennis Blows Past Guilford

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's tennis team has earned its second consecutive ten-win season with an 8-1 victory over Guilford College at home in conference play on Saturday.

Two tiebreaker wins for the Hornets (10-5, 4-1 ODAC) helped them to victory over the Quakers (7-6, 4-2).

Aryanth Chintharlappi was apart of both of the tiebreaker wins for SU. First in doubles, Chintharlappi teamed with Anton McCloskey for an 8-7 win, with the deciding point coming from a 7-3 tiebreaker point. In singles, Chintharlappi went ahead after the first set but dropped the second frame. Chintharlappi rebounded from the second set with a 10-6 decision in the third.

McCloskey was also victorious in singles, winning 6-1, 6-3. Elsewhere in singles competition, Keith Orr won in a pair of 6-1 sets, Dominick Suwak was victorious in a 6-2, 6-1 match, and Artem Babaiev took home a win, 6-2, 6-4.

Babaiev and Orr teamed together on duos court No. 1 and started the day hot for the Hornets with an 8-1 victory. The Hornets No. 1 duos team have outscored their opponents 48-13 in their last six wins as a duo. On the middle duos court, Suwak was partnered with Jovan Cirkovic and battled for an 8-6 win.
