Women's Soccer Versus Gettysburg Ends in Scoreless Tie

WINCHESTER, Va. - On Saturday afternoon at home, the Shenandoah University women's soccer team tied Gettysburg College, 0-0, in a non-conference game.

The Hornets (3-2-1) had two shots on goal, both coming in the first half, as the Bullets (1-3-1) only had one shot on goal. McKenna Newcome had the best chance for the Hornets, coming in the 44th minute, as she fired a shot from outside the box that was punched away at the last minute by Gettysburg's keeper.

RECAP

Mya Rolinson had the first good chances for SU as she had two shots 30 seconds apart, with the first one just missing the crossbar and trailing over the net.

In the 33rd minute, Kayla Jenkins got a shot from just inside the box but couldn't get enough contact on the ball as it rolled to the Bullets goalie for the easy save. The next save for GC wouldn't be as easy, with McKenna Newcome shooting a shot from 25 yards out. The shot looked to be going in but at the last second Gettysburg's goalie jumped up and punched it away for the save.

To start the second half each team earned a quick corner with Gettysburg then getting two shots off. The first shot was blocked by the Hornets defense and the second worked its way through a crowd but was eventually saved by Kasie Kilmer.

Gettysburg gained four more shots throughout the rest of the contest but none of them posed a threat to SU, with all missing the net.

Mya Rolinson and Kaitlyn Wahl led the SU starters in shots with four reserve players also picking up shots.
