Hornets Blank Blazers in Home Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team allowed zero goals for the fourth time this season in a 2-0 non-conference home win over Hood College on Wednesday night.

Lauren Duffy and McKeena Newcome netted the goals for the Hornets (5-3-1) with Kasie Kilmer stopping one shot on goal in the victory over the Blazers (1-3-4).

RECAP

Shenandoah controlled the game for the first 45 minutes with their efforts finally pulled off in the 20th minute as Lauren Duffy received a pass inside the box from Kayla Jenkins with Duffy putting the ball past the Blazers' goalie for the opening goal.

In the first half, SU outshot HC 11-0 with six shots on target.

In the 52nd minute, Kaitlyn Wahl found herself in shooting position and got the shot off but it was fixed away by the goalie, leading to a corner for SU. Chandler Gallant stepped up to take the set piece and perfectly placed the cross into the box, finding the head of McKenna Newcome to put SU up 2-0.

Each team only had one shot for the remainder of the match with Hood getting the final shot on goal, as Kasie Kilmer easily made the stop for the Hornets to preserve the shutout.

Eight players tallied the 17 shots for SU as four Hornets led the way with three.
