Women's Soccer Defeated by No. 21 W&L

WINCHESTER, Va. - In a home ODAC match on Saturday afternoon, the Shenandoah Unviersity women's soccer team lost 1-0 against No. 21 Washington & Lee University.

The Generals (5-1-0, 1-0-0 ODAC) scored the only goal of the match in the 41st minute as the Hornets (5-4-1, 0-1-0) were held to just one shot on goal in the game.

RECAP

Following a shot by Mya Rolinson, the Generals went down the field and applied pressure to the SU defense with a shot but Kasie Kilmer made the early stop for SU to keep the game scoreless.

In the 28th minute Kilmer made another save which led to a W&L corner. On the corner the Generals headed it right towards the net but Chandler Gallant was their on the goalline to knock it away for the team save.

The Generals finally got past the Hornets defense as a free kick into the box led to an easy header into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead with less than five minutes left in the first half.

SU had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds of the first half as Kaitlyn Wahl received a shot on goal from just outside the box but W&L's goalie easily gathered the ball to send the Generals to the half with the lead.

That was SU's last chance at a tie game. Washington & Lee continued to apply pressure in the final 45 minutes with four shots on goal which were all saved by Kilmer.
