Babaiev and Suwak Advance in ITA Tournament

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - On day one of the ITA Divison III Men's Southeast Regional Championships, Dominick Suwak and Artem Babaiev advanced to the round of 16 in both doubles and singles competition.

In the men's open champs doubles bracket, Suwak and Babaiev earned a 6-2 win in the round of 64 over a duo from Christopher Newport University. Later in the morning the pair of Hornets faced Haverford College and won 8-3.

In the afternoon the tournament turned into singles competition. For the Hornets, Artem Babaiev took the court first and won his round of 64 match, 8-4. Dominick Suwak then took the outdoor courts 45 minutes later and won 8-1.

Suwak then won 8-4 in the round of 32 while Babaiev also won, 8-7, while winning the final set 12-10.

UP NEXT

The Hornets return to the courts in Fredericksburg tomorrow morning to continue the Southeast Regional Championships.
