Men's Soccer Ties No. 21 Hampden-Sydney, 1-1

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team earned a 1-1 tie at home on Saturday afternoon against No. 21 Hampden-Sydney College in ODAC play.

The Hornets (4-5-4, 1-1-2 ODAC) scored in the 11th minute, with the Tigers (8-1-2, 3-0-2) tying the game in the 69th minute.

IN BRIEF

Following an early save by starting goalie Talan Josaitis, the Hornets went down the field and earned consecutive corners. Yoha Mulugeta had the first shot on goal for SU, which was saved by the Tigers. However, nearly 30 seconds later, Luke Shearer fed Jarbin Rodriguez a pass across the box, with Rodriguez going bar-down for the opening goal.

Josaitis made two more key saves in the half, saving the 1-0 lead for the Hornets.

The Tigers held the Hornets without a scoring chance for the first 30 minutes of the second half, allowing the visitors to tie the game with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Aidan Browne led the team with three shots, each coming in the first 17 minutes of the game.

UP NEXT

The Hornets are home this Wednesday at 7 p.m. versus Bridgewater College in an ODAC match.
