Women's Soccer Defeats Hollins, 8-0

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team earned its second consecutive conference victory on Saturday in an 8-0 win at home over Hollins University.

Seven different Hornets (5-6-3, 3-2 ODAC) scored in the win over Hollins (3-7-1, 1-4-0), with the first five goals of the game coming within the first 15 minutes of play.

RECAP

Shenandoah had five shots in the first four minutes of play, with Lauren Duffy scoring the game's first goal on a header, with Kirlyn Wilson earning the assist. Four minutes later, Wilson earned her second assist on McKenna Newcome's first goal. 

In the 10th minute, Wilson and Newcome connected again, putting Shenandoah up 3-0 on Newcome's second goal of the afternoon and fourth of the week. 

Ellie Ajello then put SU up 4-0, finding the left side of the net on an assist from Alexandra Sarrach and Cameron Shackford. Shackford quickly gave SU a 5-0 lead with her first goal as a Hornet on an assist from Ajello.

A few steps into the box, Alcia Bauer ripped a shot to the top right corner in the 31st minute for the Hornets' sixth and final goal of the half.

Just seconds into the second half, River Horn broke through the Hollins defense and made it 7-0 for her first career goal. Arizona Fischvogt scored the final goal of the afternoon in the 68th minute.

Molly Donaldson and Morgan Musselman split time in the net for the combined shutout, while 30 other Hornets saw playing time this afternoon.
