Women's Soccer Stuns Lynchburg with Late Goal in 1-0 Thriller

LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University earned a 1-0 ODAC win at the University of Lynchburg on Tuesday night behind a late go-ahead goal.

SU (6-6-3, 4-2-0) scored with exactly one minute left in the contest, on McKenna Newcome's fifth goal in three games, for its first win over LYN (8-3-2, 3-2-1) since 2019.

IN BRIEF

Morgan Musselman made three saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless heading to the second half, as Shenanodah was held to two shots on goal in its offensive half of the field.

Early in the second half, Olivia Daniele and Ellie Ajello had chances denied by Lynchburg, with the home team keeping the game in a stalemate.

Musselman made her final save of the shutout in the 76th minute on a LYN shot from the top of the box. At the other end of the field, Kaitlyn Wahl looked to break the tie but hit the crossbar on a shot that just missed LYN's goalkeeper.

Finally, with one minute left, Shenandoah took the late lead as Newcome connected with the far side of the net. SU's defense stopped a last-second chance by LYN off a free kick to secure the win.
