Flory Nets Second Hat Trick of Season in Win at Roanoke

SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team defeated Roanoke College for the fifth consecutive year in a 4-2 ODAC road win on Saturday afternoon.

First year Reagan Flory led the Hornets (11-3, 4-1 ODAC) with a hat trick, while Claudia Lenahan added the team's final goal of the day in the win over the Maroons (4-10, 2-3).

RECAP

Shenandoah had three shots on target inside the first 90 seconds of the game, with Flory striking on the third shot, making it 1-0. Kierney Weigle connected with Flory for the team's second goal just six minutes later.

Roanoke scored the only goal of the second quarter, cutting its deficit in half heading into halftime. 

In the third, following an offensive attack which saw six shots denied by the Maroons, Flory made it 3-1. Halfway through the fourth quarter, the Maroons were able to make it a one-goal game, but Lenahan added a late insurance goal for the Hornets to close out the day.

Cassidy Alexander made four saves in the first year's eighth win of the season.

Shenandoah heads to Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday afternoon for an ODAC game.
