FOREST, Va. – The Shenandoah University football team picked up a pair of ODAC Player of the Week honors Sunday, as announced by the conference office.

Quarterback Mekhi Brown earned Offensive Player of the Week, while linebacker Ryan Apietu was named Defensive Player of the Week following the Hornets' 33-20 win over Roanoke College on Saturday in the first-ever meeting between the programs.

Brown, making his third career start, threw for 264 yards and four touchdowns while completing 79.9% of his passes. He connected with Jackson McFarland for a 16-yard score to give SU a 20-13 lead in the third quarter, then found McFarland again for a 58-yard touchdown in the fourth. Brown also threw first-half touchdowns to Connor Bartlett and TJ Henderson.

Through three starts, the first-year quarterback has totaled 743 passing yards and nine touchdowns, along with one rushing score. He has thrown for at least 225 yards in all three games.

Apietu anchored the defense with 11 total tackles, including eight solo stops. The sophomore's biggest play came in the third quarter with the game tied at 13, when he delivered a strip sack and recovered the fumble, setting up Brown's first touchdown pass to McFarland.

Apietu has 44 total tackles, four sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles in the Hornets' six games this season.

Shenandoah returns home this Saturday for Homecoming, hosting Averett University at noon.
