Men's Soccer Defeated by Mary Washington, 2-0

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 2-0 road loss at the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets (4-5-3) outshot the Eagles (7-5-1), 14-12, but allowed a goal in each half, while UMW made five key saves in the second half.

IN BRIEF

The Eagles' offense applied pressure early in the game, forcing SU goalie Cameron Vester to make a save in the first eight minutes. After hitting a post and having a shot blocked, UMW opened the scoring in the 27th minute.

The home team had the first shot on goal in the second half, which extended the lead for the Eagles in the 57th minute.

Minutes later, both Aidan Browne and Jarbin Rodriguez earned shots on goal, but were stopped by the Eagles' goalkeeper. Luca Pickeral, Nick Wagner, and Luke Shearer earned the final three shots on goal for SU, each resulting in a stop for the Eagles.

Vester made two saves in the game for SU, with Hatim Elkhasouani, Dylan Johnson, and Alvin Garcia playing the full game.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah begins the final third of the regular season with an ODAC game at home against Hampden-Sydney. The game is slated to start at 4 p.m. this Saturday.
