Men’s Tennis Concludes Fall Competition at WildCat Invite

LYNCHBURG, VA - Shenandoah Men's Tennis competed in the four-team Randolph WildCat Invitational on Saturday. The Hornets took 11 wins out of their 16 total matches, competing against Randolph, Bridgewater, and Pfeiffer.

Doubles

In the first round of doubles, the Hornets struggled, but battled hard. Dominick Suwak and Lucas Beasley fought to a tiebreak set before falling to Wellman/Burgoyne (Pfeiffer) 6-7 (4-10). Neal Love and Artem Babaiev, as well as Shine Tokas and Max Arkans, both fell to Randolph doubles opponents 3-6.

The second round of doubles fared better for Shenandoah, as all three pairings found the win column. Suwak and Beasley downed Martin/Mulner (Randolph) 6-3, Love/Babaiev won against Robles Solis/Stan (Pfeiffer) 6-2, and Tokas/Arkans took out van Bergeijk/Morgan 6-2.


Singles

Dominick Suwak split on the day, defeating Andreas Mulner (Randolph) 7-6 (3-0), before falling to Jacob Martin (Randolph) 3-6 0-6.

Lucas Beasley took both singles victories on the day in dramatic fashion, downing Vincenzo Marchese (Randolph) 2-6 6-1 1-0 (10-7), as well as Hugo Kezen (Pfeiffer) 4-6 6-2 1-0 (10-5).

Artem Babaiev also took two wins in singles over Bogdan Stan (Pfeiffer) 6-0 6-4, and Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Randolph) 6-2 6-1.

Shine Tokas, who made his season debut at this event, split his singles matches, falling to Aksel Tinnes-Rimehaug (Randolph) 1-6 6-7 (4-10), before winning over Javier Robles Solis (Pfeiffer) in a single set match, 8-2.

Max Arkans also split on the day, taking his first game over Javier Robles Solis (Pfeiffer) 6-4 6-4, before falling in his second match to Carlos Haupt (Randolph) in a single set, 5-7.

Neal Love rounded out the day for the Hornets with a split, winning match 1 over Jason Duval (Randolph) 6-2 6-3, before dropping his final match to Jayden Wellman (Pfeiffer) in a single set, 5-8.


Up Next

The Hornets are off until February 14th, when they take on the #22 University of Mary Washington Eagles in Fredericksburg.
