FOREST, Va. – The Shenandoah University football team has been picked to finish third in the 2025 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason poll, its highest ranking in ODAC poll, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets, coming off an 8-3 campaign and an appearance in the Cape Charles Bowl, collected one first-place vote and 49 total points.

Defending champion Randolph-Macon College tops the poll after earning the other eight first-place votes and 64 points. Washington and Lee University follows in second with 53 points.

Bridgewater College, Hampden-Sydney College, and Roanoke College occupy the fourth through sixth spots, respectively. The Maroons are a newcomer to the ODAC football scene after announcing the return of their program back in the summer of 2023.

Averett University and Guilford College share seventh place with 21 points apiece, while Gallaudet University rounds out the poll with 10 points. The Bison enter the ODAC this season as an associate member in football.

Shenandoah was among the league's most balanced teams a year ago, ranking second in both scoring offense (34.0 ppg) and scoring defense (19.4 ppg).

Despite graduating seven of its 11 All-ODAC honorees from 2024, SU returns three first-team standouts in Jalen Redfearn, Matt Conroy, and Sean Perry, along with third-team wideout Guy Hayes.

Led by reigning ODAC Coach of the Year Scott Yoder, the Hornets open the 2025 season at home on Saturday, Sept. 6, with a non-conference matchup against Methodist University.
