Men's Soccer Shutout by McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team lost 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at McDaniel College in non-conference play.

The Hornets (0-2) allowed the only goal of the game in the final seconds of the first half, while the Green Terror (2-0) stopped three SU shots on goal in the second half.

McDaniel started their offensive attack early, earning a shot on target just over two minutes into the game, but Talan Josaitis was there to save the ball for the Hornets and hold off the early offensive threat. Shenandoah had the text two shots to break the scoreless tie, but both shots missed the net, keeping the teams deadlocked at zero.

At the 14-minute mark, Nick Mattiace had the first attempt on target for SU, but the ball was saved by the home team. That'd be the last scoring chance of the half for the Hornets. Following a second save by Josiatis, and with 14 seconds left in the first half, McDaniel was able to finally break the tie and take the 1-0 lead.

Shenandoah came out of the halftime break and turned on the offense, attempting three shots in the first 12 minutes of the half. However, nothing found the back of the net with only one shot reaching the keeper.

In the final 10 minutes of the contest, Shenandoah controlled possession as they looked to even up the game. SU racked up five shots in the final moments of the game, with the best chance coming from Olvin Martinez, as he bounced a shot off the left post. Dylan Johnson and Hatim Elkhasouani also had scoring chances that were saved by the Green Terrors' goalie to protect their shutout win.
