Women's Soccer and Gettysburg Draw, 2-2

GETTYSBURG, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team and Gettysburg College battled to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night at Gettysburg in a non-conference game.

The Hornets (1-2-3) overcame two one-goal deficits to equalize the contest with the Bullets (3-1-2), with Kaitlyn Wahl and McKenna Newcome scoring for SU.

IN BRIEF

The Bullets took the 1-0 lead just over 10 minutes into the game off a throw-in in but the Hornets quickly responded, tying the game. Following a shot from Newcome that was saved, Wahl scored from the right side of the box, putting SU on the board.

Newcome and Wahl had a combined three more shots on goal in the first half, as they tried to put the Hornets in front.

Gettysburg came right out in the second half and took a 2-1 lead and fired two more shots on target, but Molly Donaldson made the stops for SU to keep the game within reach. Minutes later, off a corner kick for Shenandoah, Newcome was able to poke the ball past the Bullets, tying the game at two.

Donaldson made four crucial saves and got assistance from the crossbar in the final 30 minutes of action to keep the game even.

Shenandoah had the narrow advantage in shots, 13-12, but the Bullets held the lead in shots on net, 9-8.
