Women's Soccer Defeated by Catholic, 1-0, at Home

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team lost 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at home in a non-conference game versus Catholic University.

The Cardinals (3-4-1) broke the scoreless tie in the 34th minute and made eight saves to shut out the Hornets (1-3-3).

IN BRIEF

Kirklyn Wilson, Lauren Duffy, and Ellie Ajello each earned shots on target in the first 15 minutes of the game, with each one saved by the Cardinals. Catholic broke the tie, poking the ball in the net off a free kick from over 30 yards out. Right before the end of the half, Olivia Daniele had one last shot on net for SU.

In the second half, as the Hornets looked to tie the contest, McKenna Newcome had three shots on net and missed a shot just above the crossbar on a breakaway, keeping the lead in favor of the visitors. Shenandoah's last attempt to tie the game came in the 89th minute as a shot from Kaitlyn Wahl was stopped.

Goalie Molly Donaldson made four saves in the match, bringing her season total to 16. Isabella Pop, Regan Burfiend, Cameron Shackford, and Duffy played the full 90 minutes.
