No. 1 Messiah Defeats Women's Soccer, 1-0, with Second Half Goal

GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team lost to No. 1 Messiah University 1-0 on the road on Tueday night in non-conference play.

The Falcons (9-0) scored in the 56th minute for the game's only goal as the Hornets' (1-4-3) goalkeeper Molly Donaldson made nine saves in the game.

IN BRIEF

Donaldson made three saves in the first half and was helped out by two Falcons shots hitting the crossbar, keeping the game scoreless for the Hornets.Kaitlyn Wahl and Lauren Duffy had the only shots for SU in the first half, both missing the net.

McKenna Newcome had the opening shot of the second half, which led to the first corner of the match for Shenandoah. Messiah's defense cleared the corner and got the ball into their offensive half of the field, leading to the go-ahead goal just minutes later.

With the game at 1-0, in favor of the top-ranked Falcons, Donaldson made five more saves to keep the Hornets within one. In the final ten minutes of play, Shenandoah earned two more corner kicks. Off the second corner, the final shot of the evening for SU missed wide of the net, locking up the 1-0 win for the Falcons.
