Malone Scores a Hat Trick in 8-0 ODAC Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team began its 2025 ODAC season with an 8-0 win at home on Wednesday afternoon versus Sweet Briar College.

The Hornets (2-4-3, 1-0-0 ODAC) scored seven goals in the first half, with Kylie Malone notching a hat trick in the victory over the Vixens (4-2, 0-1).

RECAP

Kirklyn Wilson easily tapped a shot into the net for the opening goal in the seventh minute, with McKenna Newcome earning the assist. Less than a minute later, Olivia Daniele connected with Audrey Atwell for the Hornets' second goal of the afternoon.

In the 21st minute, Alicia Bauer made it 3-0 with her first goal of the season, before assisting on Malone's first goal of the game in the 32nd minute. Malone then made it 5-0 less than five minutes later, with Madison Bruce providing the helper.

Directly following the ensuing kickoff, Arizona Fischvogt assisted on Bauer's second goal of the half to make it 6-0. Just before the half ended, Malone put another shot on net, which was saved, but Alexis Andrews cleaned up the rebound, putting SU up by seven.

In the 69th minute, a long pass by Emme Rivera found Malone, as the junior capped off her hat trick and made it 8-0.

Starting goalie Morgan Musselman earned her first career solo shutout as she made her lone save of the contest in the 23rd minute of play.

Shenandoah heads to No. 16 Washington and Lee on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC match.
