Hornets End Non-Conference Slate with 4-0 Victory

FREDERICK, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team defeated Hood College 4-0 on Tuesday night on the road in the team's final non-conference game of the season.

The Hornets (3-5-3) are now 9-0-1 in their last 10 games against the Blazers (3-6-0) and have outscored them 32-4 during that stretch.

RECAP

The first 15 shots on goal for the Hornets were saved by the Blazers, but SU broke through just before halftime with a Lauren Duffy goal on a free kick just outside the box.

Early in the second half, following a SU corner kick, Lucy Greenstein received the ball at the top of the box and ripped a shot to the left side of the net for the Hornets' second goal of the evening.

Three minutes after coming on as a substitute, first year, Olivia Danielle made it 3-0 for SU off an assist from Kaitlyn Wahl. A minute and a half later, McKenna Newcome quickly made it 4-0 with a penalty kick goal in the 69th minute.

Shenandoah controlled possession, outshooting Hood 28-3 and had an 8-1 corner kick advantage. Morgan Musselman and Molly Donaldson combined for the shutout, with Musselman making the lone save of the game for Shenandoah.

UP NEXT

The Hornets head to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon for an ODAC match.
