Shenandoah University football senior Matt Conroy was named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday afternoon.

Conroy, a biochemistry major, has a 3.91 career GPA, including a perfect 4.0 this past fall. The linebacker is the third SU football player to earn the award in the past two seasons, joining Steven Hugney and David Munoz each earning the award following the 2024 season.

On the field, Conroy earned All-ODAC First Team, D3football.com All-Region, ODAC Defensive Player of the Week, D3football.com Team of the Week, and two All-America awards this year. Additionally, he was named a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation Campbell Trophy.

Conroy is the Hornets' all-time tackle leader, gaining 442 tackles throughout his four seasons. During his time as a Hornet, Conroy helped SU reach the postseason in 2024 and 2025, breaking a 20-year postseason drought.

In December, CSC announced its 2025 Academic All-District teams for football, with Conroy, Andy Anderson, Drew Custer, Aidan McCloskey, Mason Anderson, Jake Jack, Braedon Swords, and Caleb Weston representing SU on the teams. Conroy and Andy Anderson were nominated as finalists for Academic All-America.
