Early Goals Lift Men's Soccer Past Roanoke

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University men's soccer team picked up its eighth shutout of the season with a 4-0 home ODAC win over Roanoke College on Saturday evening.

The Hornets (6-3-5, 3-1-2 ODAC) scored two goals in the first 90 seconds of the game to help them get past the Maroons (4-8-1, 2-4-0).

RECAP

Roughly 30 seconds into the game, the Hornets drew a foul inside the box, leading to a penalty kick. Jarbin Rodriguez stepped up to take the kick and buried the shot, making it 1-0. Then, less than a minute later, off a throw-in from Grant Otto, Aidan Browne headed the ball to the left side of the cage to make it 2-0.

In the final minute of the first half, Elezar Albe sent a ball down the field to Luke Shearer, who went across the box with a pass to Luca Pickeral for a 3-0 SU lead.

Rodriguez added the dagger with another penalty kick goal in the 75th minute.

Aidan King-Miller protected the shutout with five saves in net for the Hornets.
