SALEM, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team defeated Roanoke College 71-61 on the road on Saturday afternoon in an ODAC game.

Junior Addison Banks scored a career-high 29 points for the Hornets (17-6, 9-5 ODAC) in the win over the Maroons (11-12, 5-9).

RECAP

The Maroons held a small lead in the first four minutes of the game but a stretch of three consecutive three-pointers for Shenandoah gave them a 15-8 lead with Banks, Skai Bayless, and Brynna Nesselrodt scoring. By the end of the first, Roanoke had crawled back to tie the game at 20.

The Hornets' defense dominated the second quarter, holding the Maroons to one field goal made and two turnovers in the frame. SU ended the half on an 8-0 run for the 30-23 lead.

In the third, the Maroons kept it a one-possession game throughout the quarter, until a 13-2 closing run, capped off by a Taylor Moran three-pointer, gave SU an 11-point lead at the end of three.

The lead for SU hit 15 points in the fourth, its largest of the game, with Mya Martin and Emily Williams chipping in points. SU shot just under 50 percent in the quarter to maintain the double-digit lead for the rest of the game.

Banks added 12 rebounds for a double-double, while Nesselrodt and Williams recorded double-digit points for the Hornets.
