Women's Basketball Wins on Senior Day

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team celebrated its 2026 senior day with a 68-56 win versus Hollins University on Saturday afternoon in an ODAC game.

Prior to the game, the Hornets (16-5, 8-4 ODAC) recognized Kiersten Hostetter, Jessica Littlejohn, Lydia Pedersen, and Emily Williams for their senior day, and the win over Hollins (14-7, 6-6) capped off with all four seniors on the court at once.

RECAP

Neither team found the basket for the first two minutes until Emily Williams scored a pair of buckets in the paint to put SU up 4-0. After a layup by Hollins, Addisyn Banks and Jessica Littlejohn gave SU a 7-0 run to put them up 11-2. Taylor Moran and Lydia Pedersen chipped in points by the end of the first to keep SU up 16-8.

Hollins struggled from the floor in the first quarter, going 2-12, while the Hornets shot just under 50 percent, going 7-15.

A three-pointer from Moran kept the Hornets up by nine early in the second, before Williams made a second-chance layup to push their lead to double-digits. With under half the quarter remaining, Hollins cut its deficit to single-digits once again but Moran made another three-pointer before the half ended to give SU a 32-20 lead at the break.

At halftime, Banks had 10 rebounds, before finishing the game with 11 for a 19-point double-double.

In the third quarter, the teams combined for 43 points, with SU outscoring HU in the frame, 23-20. Skai Bayless scored six points in the third and the Hornets ended the frame with great ball movement, leading to a three-pointer by Lily Berger just before the buzzer.

Hollins opened the fourth with an 8-2 run to cut SU's lead back to nine, however Williams helped SU take a 14-point lead with a 5-0 run behind three points and an assist from the senior. Williams added another layup before the game ended to give her 17 points, while Banks nailed a three-pointer to score SU's final points. Kiersten Hostetter entered the game in the fourth, returning to the court for the first time since December 2023 after returning from injury.

Moran led the SU bench with 11 points, including three baskets from behind the three-point line.
