Women's Soccer Wins Back-and-Forth Match at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Shenandoah University women's soccer team took a back-and-forth match at Stevenson University, 3-2, in non-conference play on Wednesday night.

McKenna Newcome provided the game-winning goal for the Hornets (5-1) in the 77th minute, after the Mustangs (0-4-1) tied the game just moments before.

RECAP

Ellie Ajello started the evening off with a quick shot on goal for the Hornets, which was stopped, but Lauren Duffy got past the Mustangs for the first goal of the game just minutes later with an assist from McKenna Newcome.

Stevenson made two more quick saves on shots from Reagan Burfiend and Kaitlyn Wahl, allowing the home team to tie the game in the 29th minute. The game remained 1-1 heading into the second half.

A quarter of the way through the second, Ajello got revenge for the game-opening save and made it 2-1 with her second goal of the season. Lucy Greenstein picked up the assist on Ajello's goal.

Coming off a corner kick, Stevenson got one past the Hornets and evened the game, 2-2. The Hornets didn't wait long to regain their lead, with Newcome providing the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute. The win was capped off by a Morgan Musselman save in the final 10 minutes of the game.

The Hornets travel to the nation's capital this Saturday for a 2 p.m. match at Catholic.
