Men's Soccer Ties Batten in ODAC Opener

WINCHESTER, Va. - In the conference opener, the Shenandoah University men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw with Batten University on Saturday afternoon at home.

The Hornets (2-2-4, 0-0-1 ODAC) and Marlins (1-2-5, 0-0-1) each had chances in the final 10 minutes of the game, with neither team able to break the deadlock.

RECAP

Both teams earned corner kicks in the first 15 minutes but weren't able to get any shots off on either opportunity. Batten had the first shot on goal in the 22nd minute and Shenandoah responded with its first in the 40th minute.

In the final stretch of the contest, Shenandoah had three shots: one hit the crossbar, one went north of the net, and the final shot was stopped by the Marlins. The Marlins took their save and transitioned down the field, and had a shot on target, which was saved by Aidan King-Miller in the final seconds.

King-Miller made three saves in the game, with two coming in the second half. Jarbin Rodriguez had two of Shenandoah's seven shots for the team high.

UP NEXT

Shenandoah hosts the University of Mary Washington on Wednesday night in the final non-conference game of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
