Trey Kern Runs for Two TDs of 70+ Yards

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University completed its first football season in 28 years with a 45-23 non-league win over Principia College Saturday afternoon at Kelican Stadium on the James Wood campus.
 
Shenandoah (3-6) scored 38 unanswered points to pull away from PC (5-4) and complete its first varsity season since 1967 on a winning note.
 
Senior Trey Kern scored on touchdowns of 70- and 73-yards in the middle of that 38-point onslaught to turn the game from a 9-3 contest into a 24-3 advantage.
 
Dennis Robart helped the Hornets polish off a 22-point second quarter with touchdown runs of 23- and 3-yards at the 5:51 and 2:52 marks, respectively.
 
Robart also had the hosts' final scoring, rumbling 44-yards with 6:29 remaining in the third to put SU up, 45-10.
 
Principia scored two TDs in the fourth to provide the final margin.
 
Shenandoah had 378 of its 429 yards in total offense on the ground with Kern posting 165 on just 12 carries and Robart 122 on 16.
 
Michael Graham picked off two passes for the defense with Gregg Anderson registering eight tackles.
