Women's Hoops Loses to Hood

WINCHESTER, Va. - The SU women's basketball team fell to 1-3 on the young season Wednesday evening as Hood College took an 81-71 non-conference victory. 

Shenandoah was plagued by 32 turnovers and shot just 36.1 percent (26 for 72) from the field in falling for the first time in the last five meetings to the Blazers (2-2).

Despite the loss, the Hornets were pleased to have sophomore Jenny Gray (Summerduck, Va./Libery) back in the lineup after sitting out the last two games with a knee injury suffered in the first game of the season. Gray led Shenandoah with 18 points and five assists. Dee Fisher (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) added 11 points while Shannda Gaskins (Falls Church, Va./McLean)had her third straight double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds. 

Hood's Danielle Allen paced the Blazers with 18 points and 12 boards. 

The women return to action this weekend when they travel to Staunton, Va. to face Mary Baldwin. Game time is 3:00.
