BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College Eagles jumped out to a six run lead after three innings and then had to hold on for a 6-3 non-league victory over visiting Shenandoah University Wednesday afternoon.

BC (7-5) scored all the runs it would need in the bottom of the second when the Eagles touched SU starter JR Creamer (Lovettsville, Va./Loudoun Valley) for four runs on six hits and an error.

Bridgewater had five of its first six hitters in the inning reach safely; Shenandoah (2-6-1) contributed to the rally by committing a throwing error on the first out of the inning.

SU got itself back into the contest with one run in the fourth and two more in the seventh. The Hornets made the score 6-3 in the seventh inning when junior Josh Bosley (Oakland, Md./Garrett CC) led off the frame with home run. After BC retired the next two batters on groundouts, Shenandoah combined two walks and a double to score the final run of the ballgame.

Freshman Mike Christoforo (Arlington, Mass./Arlington)drove in that final run on the double; he finished the day 1 for 3. Bosley had the Hornets other two RBI. In addition to his home run, he plated Manny Yanas (Palmdale, Calif./William Penn) with a fourth inning sacrifice fly.

Creamer falls to 1-1 with the loss.
