WINCHESTER, Va. - The women's lacrosse team gave Marymount all it could handle for most of the first half Monday afternoon before falling 21-12 in non-league action.
Shenandoah (1-2) fought back from a 6-1 deficit to get within one at 6-5 with 14:57 remaining in the first.
Unfortunately, this would be the high water mark as Marymount (4-1) reeled off the next four goals and eventually took a 13-7 lead into the half.
The Saints expanded the lead to as much as 12 by scoring six of the first seven goals of the second, but a 4-2 SU run to finish the game closed the gap to the final margin.
Freshman Joia Davis (Trenton, NJ/Stuart County) had five goals for Shenandoah in her first college game with Sharon Sparwasser (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) adding four and Lauren Prentice (Westminister, Md./Liberty) two.Â
Susan Decker had five goals, Casey Smith and Jamie Knotts four for MU.
