WINCHESTER, Va. - Oswego State knocked a pair of two-run home runs to give the Lakers a 7-3 victory over Shenandoah Wednesday night at Bridgeforth Field.
Shenandoah (2-10-1) led 2-0 heading into the fourth inning after scoring two runs in the bottom of the third. Centerfielder Rodney Wooden (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) singled, advanced to second and third on an error and a single, respectively, and then came home when Mike Arvizo (Palmdale, Calif./Antelope Valley CC) lofted a sacrifice fly to center.Â
Tyler Daniel (Richmond, Va./JR Tucker) made it 2-0 one batter later when he plated Manny Yanas (Palmdale, Calif./William Penn) with a single.Â
Unfortunately, this would the final time that the Hornets would lead. Oswego State (1-0) touched relief pitcher Gerry Sasse (Philadelphia, Pa./Penn Charter) for three runs on two hits and two errors one-half inning after the SU rally.Â
The Lakers scored all of their runs in the inning with two outs; Dave Johnson started the comeback by reaching on a hit by pitch and then trotted home on Garrit Tallini's four-bagger.
Oswego added four more runs in the sixth to give themselves a five-run cushion. The Hornets were able to get one back in the last of the ninth, but fell for the eighth straight outing.
Yanas and Josh Bosley (Oakland, Md./Garrett CC) each had three hits in five at-bats for the hosts.Â
